Building Swedens most popular couples therapy app

Ally is an app designed to strengthen relationships using evidence-based methods from couples therapy.

When our collaboration started, Ally wanted help with designing and developing their first version of the mobile app. With a team consisting of designers and developers we worked in very close partnership with the client to bring their vision to life. The successful launch off the app and subsequent increase of users helped Ally secure a new round of founding to enable international expansion.

Ally started in 2020 with an ambition to strengthen and deepen couple relationships in an easy way. With a team of four people, they decided to take their idea to the next phase, but they did not have the capacity or knowledge to build the app themselves, nor hiring an entire in-house team. When our collaboration started, Ally wanted help with designing and developing their first version of the mobile app.

Crowd Collective put together a team of designers and developers to start building the app with 3 months until a MVP needed to be finalized. Given the time frame we decided to build the app in Flutter, to be able to build for iOS, android and web at the same time. Thanks to our setup internally with Crowds, we could utilize the competence of many wrapped into a handful of people working on the project.

Having a constant and open dialogue throughout the development process was a vital way in which Crowd Collective consultants ensured that they were aligned with the business goals. We used bubble.io as a tool to create new features quickly, and presented them to a focus group to get instant feedback. This gave us insights to what features we should prioritize.

With smart technical choices, a close partnership with the client and the usage of the collective experiences from our Crowd we managed to launch the first version within three months. The successful launch off the app and subsequent increase of clients helped Ally secure a new round of founding and international expansion.
